PRODUCTS REVIEWS
A dish is a parabolic shape designed to receive antennae. This
product has deferent specification like C- Band, KU Band (Also has a brand
specially designed for up to 16 Satellite), V-SAT etc. But we are focusing on
KU- Band dish. The KU-BAND is a dish used for internet connectivity. We have it
in range and sizes like lowest which is about 92cm which cost $165 compare to
the large size as about 2.4m which also cost $1, 2999.00. But in this review we
are going to focus on I.2m KU BAND which cost about $269.00 in United State of
America. But if you are ordering this product from Nigeria, you may have to pay
for shipping cost and other tariff that will end up making it more expensive.
At the end of the day you will end up spending the up to $2000.00 or less. But
if you are buying direct from dealers in Nigeria you will pay more than $2000
to purchase, some in the past had paid almost $5000.00 to purchase KU Band
which is about 1.2 million naira equivalent then. So we are going to look into
the important of this 1.2meter KU BAND as regard internet connectivity, the
installation of the Product and the requirement for installation. The important
of this KU-BAND Dish is that as the licensed owner of this product, you are
eligible to serve as Internet Service Provider (ISP) agent, You sell Bandwidth
to smaller internet café business who can connect through your service by
assigning them a pass code or configure a Broadband modem or a digital wireless
radio as well as Access point USB modem that can hook to the main server. This
is to mean according to the institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers
(IEEE) view of wireless Local Area Network (LAN) connectivity and Wide Area
Network (WAN) Connectivity their range of network connection standard to
the main server should be 802.16 which is for WI-MAX which covers not less than
300meter to about unlimited distance above 30 miles and that is about
50KM plus beyond the Wi-Fi range, the Wi-Fi range should not exceed about
100-300meter and it has according to IEEE standard of 802.11, while Bluetooth
is about 1-100m in distance and not exceeding 100m for wireless standard alone
but their IEEE standard is 802.15. This is why when the Local Area Network
distance exceeds 100 meter range for Ethernet wire cabling connection, we switch
to wireless. The whole gadget for that networking will be configured wireless
because the distance has exceeded 100 meter distance which is used for Local
Area Network Ethernet Connection. As regards this assigning of bandwidth the
licensed owner of the KU-BAND DISH can cover up his expenses
to include engaging in a Cafe outlet internet services.
Now having established this fact, we are going to know how to
mount this gadget so that, it can work properly for the users: Now using this
KU Band with 3rd Eye Company as a case study to set up a 3rd eye
Mobile surveillance Technology as a case study here will help us understand
more how this gadget are assembled to work in a modern sophisticated
technology:
INSTALLATION OF K-U BAND DISH (A CASE STUDY OF 3RD EYE
PLATFORM)
The dish serves for Internet purposes; this is one thing one
should bear in mind. The Major equipment for installation of the dish is:
(1) X3 iDirect Evolution Modem –using serial No
044516 as an example
(2) 1.2 Meter KU-BAND DISH (with F connector port
which uses Coaxial cable)
(3) BUC TYPE: NJT –S/N: B2401A
(4) LNB TYPE: NJR284 HH – S/N 00081420
(5) OMT/FEED HORN
GADGETS NEEDED ARE:
(1) Allen keys (one set)
1.5mm - 10mm
(2) Analyzer and its cable
(3) Spanner (14 ring and 14
head)
(4) Allen keys t6 –
t25
(5) Crimping tool
(6) T and T lighting cable
(7) Spanner
rings sizes: 19 and 18, 14 and 15, 20 and 22, 19 ring and 19 ordinary, 12 and
13
(8) Black solo tape
(9) RG 6 coaxial cable
ASSEMBLING OF 1.2 KU-BAND
The BUC is attached to the feed horn. Fixing the dish handle
properly with its Nut tightened. The LNB is also attached to the feed horn and
screwed. Fix the Hanger on the dish handle and screw where the feed Horn will
be. Then fix the feed horn on the handle and tighten. After which we fix the
dish neck that will hold the dish joined with the Galvanized Iron pipe or pole
casted to base with cement. Then on the side of the neck is elevation rod
tightening it until it raises the dish to angle 45o. Then after
this, we can mount the KU-Band dish on the pole casted to the concrete base.
Next stage after hanging the Ku-Band on its pole is to set the
position of the dish with a digital analyzer which is connected to the LNB. Now
using the analyzer to track the position the KU-Band satellite dish on the pole
will face, this Analyzer will determine north, South, East or western direction
of the KU BAND. Now we can use the analyzer to start detecting signals while
the elevation handle is used to adjust the movement. The EUROSTAR
ANALYZER has LNB A and B Detector,
now if the LNB A on the EUROSTAR ANALYZER increases
at least to 60% and above during adjustment of the movement with the elevation
handle, then, you will know that the dish had set. So during this process the
dish is being turned round from the elevation handle by one installer person
while the other person monitors the EUROSTAR ANALYZER which is
connected already to the LNB with COAXIAL Cable which has F- PORT.
Now having set the KU Band, the next step is to run the
Coaxial cable from the mounted and well positioned 1.2meter KU-BAND to the X3
iDirect Evolution Modem, we can use other similar modem, but this one is chosen
for this assembling illustration. Now it is this Modem that will link the
KU-Band to internet after activation. Next article we will continue with the
activation.
ACTIVIATION OF INTERNET SITE FOR THE 1.2 KU-BAND WITH X3 IDIRECT
EVOLUTION MODEM
Gadget needed for activation of the site:
(1) New Laptop
(2) Phone with GPRS
(3) External Drive (hard
Disk) about 500GB
(4) F-Connector for the run
coaxial cable from KU-BAND to Modem
(5) RJ 45 Connector
Now having known what we need for this activation, before we
proceed, the first thing the site Computer Network Engineer will do is to find
out the latitude and the longitude of the position you mounted the KU-BAND
dish as this will help in the needed information by white men to
activate the dish from their server outside country or abroad. So during the
activation you will use your phone and calling the internet service Provider
(ISP) that will help to activate the KU Band from abroad.
Now the next thing to do is to crimp the two heads of RJ 45
Ethernet cable that goes to the Modem with RJ45 connector using crimping tools,
once that is achieved, there is a precaution to observe, and that is to make
sure that whenever you are making connection or you want to do connection on
the modem, please make sure you first of all switch the modem off, because if
it is on it will damage something on the modem.
Now having crimped the RJ 45, also use the F- CONNECTOR to crimp
the two Coaxial cable that connect the MODEM to BUC and LNB on the KU-band
internet Satellite dish, once this is connected there is a light indication on
the Modem identified as RX POINT used to assess the validity of the connection
made on the BUC and LND through the F-connector on the COAXIAL Cable. Now when
the modem is on after connecting to the KU-Band dish if RX light indicates
yellow, know that the connection is invalid, but if it indicates green. It is a
valid connection.
Having discover that the connection on the KU-BAND through the
cable to the Modem is valid from the RX indication light. Now we need to
connect the RJ 45 to the computer system server as well as link it to the LAN A
of a Hub or switch which is connected to the modem already or we need to
connect the laptop to the same.
The next step is to check if the RX SNR is correct, to do that we
will connect the laptop to the modem, and monitor if the level or rate is
correct. If the RX-SNR is above 10.5, that mean that it is correct, but if it
is below that, know that the SNR is not correct. But in this our activation let
assume that it is 12.0000 which is perfect. Having passed this test let proceed
to another one.
Now we are set for activation with our laptop connected to
internet through a mounted radio for a remote areas where internet connectivity
are very hard due to lack of Network or Broadband access point for a place
where there is network, we assume Talia to be our ISP provider, trying to call
them from Nigeria for configuration, we use isite for configuration. Now we open
isite, we can download it from the ISP at www.talia.net. Now when the site
opens:
Tell them your name and tell them the code of the place you are
calling, sorry before this you might have gotten all this information through
search engine optimization which makes things faster. So you gave them the
MODEM S/N = 044516 for instance, then give them the model of the modem= model
x3 for instance which is written on the modem, they will also request for
RX-SNR which we detected with the laptop give them 12.0000 or 11.0000, They
will request for your phone number and name, give it to them as well.
At this point if the Modem is locked tell them. This how to
if the modem is locked or not, if the three light in front base of the modem is
off after connection is established, it indicates that the modem is not locked
from site. Log in isite and click cross polarization and start CWU
RF Uplink Frequency = 141275miles
BUC LO Frequency:
L-BAND TX Frequency:
Start CW
Adjustment is made on
Transmit Power : from 25.0 DBM – 15.0 after which we click start
The yellow light that shows on the RX on the front base of the
modem indicates that the modem is out from locking; when it was on locking it
was green. But the yellow light indicates that it is in unlocked is still
invalid.
The above set up is a request from ISP for their setting from the
site after which we move to the feed horn on KU-BAND and begin to adjust it
clockwise and anti clockwise as they request on phone from ISP outside
the country.
The dish is adjusted from AXE MUTE (sideways) as the ISP ABROAD
demands from the phone contact with the installer is using to connect them;
this is to enable them set the site appropriately. Also adjustment is made from
elevation handle (UP AND DOWN) even with pipe range
Finally, after every setting, they will restart the modem from
their site outside the country through Network, and the whole three lights in
the front of the modem will go off. When it is set, the whole 4 light will show
green telling you that the modem is locked, that is to mean it is ready for
use.
CONFIGURATION THE SITE SERVER WITH IP ADDRESS THAT CAME WITH THE X3 IDIRECT
EVOLUTION MODEM TO WORK WITH SURVEILLANCE SECURITY IP CAMERAS AND MOBILE PHONE
The step by step processes of configuring the site server that
will host the KU-BAND are follows:
(1) Double click the network
Icon on the windows Desktop of the server (LAN)
(2) Click on Properties
(3) Click on internet
protocol TCP/IP and click properties
(4) Then type in the new IP
Address for the new modem and subnet and click ok
(5) Click advance stage and
fill in DNS and WINS
(6) Make sure that the RJ 45
Connector is well established connection between the modem and the switch.
(7) If the internet explorer
could not establish connection to browse. Then try to ping 8.8.8.8
(8) If the latencies is TTL466,
then you have to know that connection is valid
(9) Then visit 3rd eye
ICON installed on the server for MOBILE Surveillance IP Cameras and click save,
then the 3RD eye Camera Icon will show. Then Right click on the
Icon and click on DVR, then the configured IP cameras will show on the server.
If you want to know how to configure the cameras go and purchase the product,
the process is specified there on the manual.
(10) After the above steps
and the Camera did not show on the server, that is the server is not seeing the
configured cameras, now the cause is that the IP address was displaced and
added back without pinging it back to reactivate its TTL (Time To Leave) which
is 466. So when you add IP address and configure camera, you have to ping to
confirm that the TTL which is 466 is accurate. Even after displacing it.
